Antarctica is one of three areas in the globe, which are currently experiencing a climate change. In each area the mean annual temperatures have risen each year. The climate change is affecting the animals living in the peninsula. As the ice sheets melt, it is leaving less land and open ground for animals to live. It has been affecting not only the land based  animals but also the oceanic wildlife. the Krill shrimp are also declining which are also a big staple food for everything from fish to whales.

I really like this blog entry. It seems like more and more people are wanting to travel to Antartica, which of course hurts the environment. I like that you talked about how the melting of the ice affects the oceanlife as well. I guess I have never thought about that before! Very interesting. I found a website that you might find helpful http://science.time.com/2012/12/24/antarctica-its-getting-hot-at-the-bottom-of-the-planet/

Your photographs are beautiful. My topic is on climate change in New Zealand, everyday they have hundreds of glaciers that are silently melting away. Like you mentioned in your post, not only is the climate change affecting the environment and it's ecosystem but the tourists that travel to these places tends to drop below average when these breathtakingly scenic views are being transformed. It would be interesting to work together to see if the effects of global warming are similar to those in New Zealand.
One website i stumbled upon while researching what we can do to help, take a look over it, hopefully it helps bring awareness to climate change. http://earth911.com/news/2007/04/02/what-can-i-do-to-help-prevent-climate-change/

Check out my blog meganhepworth.weebly.com and see what we can do together to inform others of climate change throughout the world.

Great post. I wonder if the melting ice-cap has an effect on Chile's climate and how that would impact tourism? . Does a melting icecap put more moisture in the air resulting in more precipitation? Due to Chile's proximity to the Antarctic, will rising seal levels impact Chile before other areas?
